Hailing from the hippy suburbs of SF/Berkeley, Paul made the leap to the East Coast for college and never went back. He student-athleted at Georgetown for a few years, spending too much of his life dedicated to swimming and trying to live with his lungs full of chlorine gas. After graduation, he stuck around DC for a few more years as an immigration paralegal and becoming addicted to living inside the heart of a city (hence law school in Philly). At Penn, Paul does the Williams Institute Moot Court and Law Review, as well as working on Lambda panels on minority identity's relationship with professionalism and gender identity in Title IX. Last summer he worked with the Department of Justice's Office of Civil Rights, ensuring nondiscrimination for recipients of federal funding and performing statutory interpretation. He will talk your ear off about it if you ask him about it.

Jane grew up in Omaha, Nebraska and went to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where she "majored" in rowing and was President of the crew club. After college, Jane moved to Easton, PA to coach the novice crews at Lafayette College. At Penn, Jane co-founded the climbing club and is an associate editor of the Law Review. She spent her 1L summer in Spain at El Programa de LGTB de la Comunidad de Madrid. When she's not legally writing, she enjoys creative writing and hopes to publish a collection of short stories someday. Jane also enjoys riding her road bike, playing soccer and is an amateur photographer.

Ruth grew up in Rockville, Maryland and went to the University of Maryland, College Park for her undergraduate degree. She double majored in Political Science and Spanish with a minor in Modern Greek, and she was captain of the Maryland Mock Trial team. The daughter of two European immigrants, Ruth constantly seeks ways to develop professionally abroad. She spent her 1L summer working at a law firm in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and she will spend her 2L summer working at a firm in London. In addition to being on the Lambda Board, Ruth is an American Constitution Society board member and an associate editor for the Journal of Business Law. She also plays in the Penn Law Intramural Flag Football League and she is a member of the Penn Law Boxing Club. When she's not getting inadvertently tackled or punched, Ruth enjoys cooking and staying in touch with family and friends.

Brian grew up in a small town near West Point, NY and graduated from Cornell University, where he studied Government. In college, he volunteered on a congressional campaign, studied abroad at Oxford University, and almost died while backpacking across three continents. After college, Brian taught special education in Milwaukee, Wisconsin through Teach For America. He then taught students with emotional-behavioral challenges in Washington, DC with the Knowledge is Power Program (KIPP). This summer, he worked at Ropes & Gray at then backpacked across China. At Penn Law, Brian has been a coach and participant on the Williams Institute Moot Court team and is an Executive Editor of the University of Pennsylvania Law Review.

Justin grew up in Japan before coming to the US for high school.  He studied theater at NYU before working as a securities paralegal and labor organizer. At Penn he is Voting Rights Director of the Democracy Law Project and an associate editor of the University of Pennsylvania Law Review. Outside of Penn he mostly hangs out with his dog.

​Jill moved to the Philadelphia area from Charlotte, NC, in 2006 to attend Bryn Mawr College. After graduating she spent five years working as a fundraiser in the development office at Bryn Mawr. This past summer, Jill worked in the Office of the General Counsel at the Social Security Administration in Philadelphia. Jill also serves as Vice President of the Council of Student Representatives and as a board member of Penn Law for Philly. She is an associate editor of the Journal of Business Law and will be working with the 1L class this year as a student professionalism liaison.  Jill lives in Fitler Square with her cat, Monday. She loves La Colombe, Philly’s many beer gardens, and the Schuylkill river trail.

Brian grew up in suburban northeast Ohio and graduated from the Ohio State University with a degree in economics. During college, he studied abroad in China and traveled to North Korea as part of a two-week international conflict resolution program. After graduation, Brian worked as a legal assistant at Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders (GLAD) where he was involved with the same-sex marriage litigation at the U.S. Supreme Court. He also assisted with the amicus brief strategy in Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt as a program associate at the Center for Reproductive Rights. At Penn, Brian is excited to explore his interest in international law as a board member of the Jessup International Law Moot Court team. He also looks forward to deepening his involvement in reproductive and LGBT rights issues.

​Andrew grew up in the sticks of rural East Texas before escaping to Austin to attend the University of Texas. He received his BA in the Plan II Honors program at UT and studied French and comparative literature. Throughout undergrad, Andrew was involved student government and lobbied on behalf of higher education in Texas. After graduation, he taught English at a high school in a hamlet in the Normandy region of France and volunteered for the 2016 Hillary for America campaign. At Penn, Andrew is involved with Lambda, occasionally subs in the Bowling League, and is considered a socialite in the Segal Reading Room.

From start to finish, Patrick is a product of the great state of Pennsylvania. He studied International Politics and Geography at Penn State before working for two years in Washington, D.C. with Atlantic Media. He is forever training for a marathon and has recently expanded his athletic repertoire to a pursuit requiring actual coordination: the Penn Law Bowling League. On most fall weekends, you can find him at Field House, being let down by his Nittany Lions. He would be happy to explain what a Nittany Lion is.
