​Statement Regarding Trump Administration Plans to Bar Transgender Individuals From Military Service

Penn Law’s LGBT community strongly opposes President Trump’s recent decision to ban transgender people from serving in the military.  This reversal of the Obama Administration’s inclusive policy runs contrary to President Trump’s promise to support the LGBT community and discriminates against transgender people, including those who have selflessly served this country in the military.  Moreover, research published by the RAND Corporation refutes the President’s cited fiscal and social rationale for the decision.  

Penn Law Lambda stands in solidarity with the transgender community.  We are currently planning events for the coming year that will highlight developments regarding transgender rights and encourage important discourse in this area.
